Remco Buurman 
Remco Buurman has joined the NFIA as an area director and head of the San Mateo office, responsible for covering nine states on the West Coast.
The mandate of the NFIA's San Mateo office is to help West Coast companies establish, expand or consolidate their European operations anywhere in the Netherlands.
In his efforts to facilitate U.S. business interest in the Netherlands, Remco Buurman focuses on Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah and northern California.
With a strong background in consulting on international projects on the edge between government and industry, Remco Buurman is well-equipped to promote the value of the Netherlands through the NFIA's resources and tools.
Since March 2001, he served as a manager in the international department of Senter, an agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs responsible for the implementation of government support programs in areas such as technology, energy and the environment. His work was devoted to bilateral projects between Dutch and Eastern European companies.
In April of 2004, this program was transferred from Senter to the Agency for International Business and Cooperation (EVD), another agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Prior to this time, he conducted similar project work at Senter with companies in Indonesia. During his tenure at Senter he has traveled to many Eastern European countries, such as Moldova, Bulgaria, the Baltic States, Ukraine and Romania, as well as Russia.
Remco Buurman began his career at DCE Consultants, where he was a management consultant dealing with IT-related projects. In 1992, he started his own company, Dynavision, which was devoted to management consultancy, mainly in the field related to IT and transport.
He received his degree in business administration from Erasmus University and also has a strong academic background in international economics.
