Pierre van Kleef

Pierre van Kleef is acting executive director for NFIA North America overseeing operations for the five NFIA offices throughout North America and is responsible for ensuring that the organization's resources and third party partners effectively support North American companies as they expand their operations into Europe with a strategic location in the Netherlands.

In his secondary role as area director for the NFIA's Chicago office, Pierre van Kleef assists companies throughout the Midwest in establishing, expanding or consolidating their European operations in the Netherlands concentrating his efforts on Chicago, Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. He also works with Canadian
companies in Ontario and Manitoba.

Van Kleef has a strong background in economic development and foreign direct investment. Prior to this appointment, he was the director of the Department of Economic Affairs for the Municipality of Tilburg. Previously, he held positions with the Ministry of Economic Affairs as manager for the Asia and Europe Desk at NFIA's headquarters in The Hague and as director of NFIA's South Korea office in Seoul. Earlier in his career, he was a vice president with NV Noord-Brabant Development Agency.

He started his career in the food industry working as production manager for National Cooperative Diaries in South Africa; Hirzel Canning in the US and Campbell in Belgium.

Pierre van Kleef earned a masters degree in Management & Organization from Tilburg University in the Netherlands and successfully completed the INSEAD managers program in Fontainebleau, France. He also holds a bachelor of science degree in food technology from HAS Den Bosch.
