Dutch Ports to Introduce New Export Control System Services
New System to Address Changes to EU Export Control Laws
The ports of Rotterdam and Amsterdam will soon launch new export control system services for the container sector, designed to address the changes to EU export laws and to streamline the cargo process.
Portbase, the ports’ mutual community system, will introduce the new system within the next several months. The new EU export control laws went into effect on Jan. 31.
With the new system, European exporters and forwarders need only submit five pieces of base data concerning their cargo.
More than two million containers leave the EU through the ports of Amsterdam and Rotterdam annually.
