Study Analyzes Netherlands’ Advantages for European Distribution Centers

Sustainable Supply Chain Solutions a Factor

The Netherlands ranks among the top European distribution locations, according to a new benchmark study, “High Quality, Competitive Costs, Benchmarking the Netherlands as Gateway to Europe,” conducted by the Holland International Distribution Council (NDL/HIDC), Buck Consultants International, and Ernst & Young.

The study compared leading European logistics locations on factors relating to establishing European distribution centers. The study analyzed various industries, using characteristics unique to their supply chains.

The study found that the Netherlands offered competitive advantages in terms of transport tariffs, labor flexibility, and taxes and customs. The country also has the largest European seaport (Rotterdam) and the third largest cargo airport in Europe (Amsterdam Airport Schiphol).

In addition, the study noted that the Netherlands’ central European location, and the availability of environmentally friendly transportation, make it a good choice for companies interested in sustainable supply chain solutions.
