Smurfit-Stone Recycling International Opens Rotterdam Sales Office

Smurfit-Stone Container Corp., an integrated containerboard and corrugated packaging producer, and one of the world's largest paper recyclers, has opened a European office in Rotterdam.

The office is part of the company's international recycling division, and represents its recycling and waste solutions interests outside of North America. The Rotterdam location will source recycled paper in Europe for sale throughout China, Asia, Europe and Central and South America.

"Having an 'on-the-ground' presence in Europe will help us to better anticipate and respond to global market conditions and support increased material recovery efforts in Europe," said Mike Oswald, senior vice president and general manager of the company's recycling division. "The bottom line is that this allows us to provide the same high quality and service we are known for in North America to our new and existing customers around the world."
