Marco Smit

As Area Director and head of the Boston office, Marco Smit is responsible for covering five states in the New England region.

Mr. Smit has spent the last seven years with the Netherlands Foreign Trade Agency (EVD) in two different positions. Directly prior to his current appointment he was Head of Exports Projects department, responsible for export seminars, and outgoing and incoming trade missions. He previously served as manager of target groups and database marketing.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Smit performed market research for the office for Africa on the subject of intra-African trade promotion for the International Trade Center in Geneva, Switzerland, as well as working with the Israeli firm of Teldor Wires and Cables and Citco Bank in Amsterdam.

Mr. Smit earned a master's degree in international relations from Groningen University with a specialty in international economics.
