Marco de Vries

As Area Director and head of NFIA’s Chicago office, Marco de Vries provides broad- ranged assistance to companies throughout the Midwest in establishing, expanding and consolidating their European operations in the Netherlands. He mainly focuses on Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia, as well as the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba.

De Vries has a strong background in foreign direct investment and economic development. Prior to his current appointment, he had been serving in the NFIA offices in New York and Atlanta on an interim basis. Previously, as Sr. Manager Foreign Investments at Amsterdam inBusiness, he was responsible for accounts such as Apple, Cisco, IBM, Levi’s, Tommy Hilfiger, MTV, Red Bull, Wright Medical and Cooper Standard Automotive. Before joining the Dutch government, he held positions as HR Consultant, Marketing Consultant and General Manager.

As an international business generalist, holding a degree in Business Sciences (specialty Change Management), de Vries has been instrumental in the setup of many European headquarters, marketing & sales offices and shared service centers representing a large variety of industries, with emphasis on IT, financial and business services, aerospace, creative industries and life science.
